Planning a Good Party
Normal 0 21
When you decide to have a party the first thing that you need to decide is theme. If you decide the theme first it helps you figure out what you will be serving, your decorations, and also your music. Everything should revolve around the food, therefore much time should be used to plan the menu. It usually takes around four weeks to decide the menu, schedule a date and time, and invite your guests.
As soon as you have decided on your menu, surf the Internet for themed food ideas, decorating ideas, special drink recipes and anything else you might need to research. For parties any finger food is a wise choice. Remember to have a budget and to stick with it, also prepare anything that can be ahead of time. You can prepare dips, relishes, and chutney a few days ahead of time.
The day before the party it is important to think about how you will set your table up. It makes things attractive to serve on platters and at different levels. The center of the table should be the tallest point and have a big floral arrangement or a theme related centerpiece.
Everything will start to come together on the day of the party. Be sure that you have all your last minute cleaning done, bar set up, and the room decorated. Finish up the rest of your cooking, and don’t forget the music and the lighting. Grant yourself at least a coupe of hours to get ready.
Platters of food will easily stay warm if you use hot plates, and this will grant you less to have to worry about. Do not be in a hurry to clear the table for coffee and desert this makes for a big killer of the party.
When the party is all done you will then realize how the attention to detail had paid off. All of the people that had been there will remember how great of a party it was and will be talking about it for months, until the next one.
